5 Things To Do Before 9 am

Do you have a morning routine? A collection of morning rituals you do every day before you go out and deal with all the frustrations of the world? If not, I think it’s worth the time to sit down and define one for yourself. To give you some new ideas, here are some of my favorite things to do before 9 am every day.

5 good habits to start - these morning habits can be part of your morning routine to help you start your day on a positive note.


5 Things To Do Before 9 AM


1. Wake Up Earlier Than You Have To

Waking up earlier than everyone else gives you one thing: Peace. I know when I wake up earlier, I can take my time and not be rushed and stressed out. This peace is a beautiful feeling and it makes me feel like I’m in control of my day already.

To some people this might be 5am, to others an even crazier hour like 3am, to me it’s not a defined time – it always changes with the seasons. During summer, I naturally want to wake up at around 6. So do whatever works for you.


2. Make an affirmation. 

You can either say something good about yourself, list 3 things you’re grateful for today or just thank for another day you get to experience life. This is a very simple morning habit to get you into a positive mindset that can carry throughout the rest of the day. 


3. Exercise.

Move your body in the morning, even if it’s just 10 minutes. You need that time to wake the body up – after all it’s been still all night long. A little bit of stretching, some cardio or some dancing will make you feel awake and ready for the day.


4. Beverage or breakfast. 

I’m not a big breakfast eater, so I usually don’t feel like eating breakfast before 10 am, but if that’s you – make yourself breakfast. If not, get a beverage of choice – maybe it’s coffee, tea, a smoothie or better yet: water to get hydrated. Make yourself something that you enjoy. Something to savor. 


5. Get outside.

Now that you have your drink, wouldn’t it be nice to take it outside and just enjoy it. Go on your balcony, backyard area or front porch, sit and relax. You can do this also while journaling, listening to some uplifting music or reading. What I like to do is, since my balcony is occupied by loud pigeons, I live near a beach, so I go out and take a walk there. Sometimes I’d even catch a sunrise if I’m early enough. It’s magical.
